Chamber Music Festival

Ascent International Chamber Music Festival is an opportunity for outstanding string players and pianists age 14-30 to study solo and chamber music repertoire in an intensive setting. Ascent goes beyond the practice room to develop the musician as a whole. The festival is limited to 72 serious Rising Artists.

Harpsichord Dedication and Recital

Bach Ensemble harpsichordist Michael Delfin presents a recital in celebration of the arrival of the new harpsichord. Michael is the artistic director of the Seven Hills Baroque Ensemble. Reception to follow.

Aus tiefer Not Schrei ich zu dir, BWV 38
Out of the depths I cry to you

Assistant Conductor Matthew Lee leads the Bach Ensemble in a performance of Cantata 38, a haunting setting of Martin Luther’s penitential hymn paraphrasing Psalm 130. This observation of Palm Sunday evening includes the ancient echoes of Palestrina’s Sicut cervus, Bach’s aria “Von den stricken”, and the Ricercar a 6 from Musikalisches Opfer, BWV 1079 . Reception to follow.

Memorial Day Concert

Our Memorial Day concert will feature the works of John Williams, Ken Burns and Bob Cobert with selections from Hymn to the Fallen, Civil War Selections and Winds of War, Main Theme.  We will pay tribute to Veterans with our traditional Armed Forces Salute.

Bach, François Couperin, Jean-Philippe Rameau, as well as French romantic masterpieces by César Franck and Louis Vierne. The program also includes Robin’s own compositions and improvisation. No admission charge. Suggested donation: $15.
