Every year since 2006, except for during the Covid pandemic, Chamber Music Network has sponsored ChamberPalooza! - a day of free chamber music at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Our last ChamberPalooza was held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 12 noon - 4 pm. This year, in addition to a variety of local performers, we featured two world premieres: “Powerful Impressions”, for flute and piano, by Jeanine Yeager (commissioned by Chamber Music Network), performed by Sonya Szabo Reynolds, piano, and Gretchen Germann, flute; and “Sometimes It Happens So”, a song cycle for baritone and piano, music by Kile Smith based on poems by Jane Flanders, performed by Sonya Szabo Reynolds, piano, and Ben Flanders, baritone.
The performances were held in the Fountain Room and featured 20 minute concerts by various music ensembles. A raffle drawing was held throughout the afternoon with grab bags of gifts awarded.
There was also an instrument "Petting Zoo" nearby, set up for kids and adults to try different instruments, kindly assisted and supplied by Antonio Violins and Buddy Rogers. These are always very popular!
